Meta Ads connection errors: causes and fixes
The most common reasons Meta Ads authorization fails, and the exact fix for each one.
Most problems connecting Meta Ads in Metrix have one specific cause and a quick fix. If you haven't connected it yet, start with the Meta Ads connection guide; if you already tried and something failed, keep reading.
"This app isn't available"
Metrix's app on Facebook may be going through Meta's review process (App Review). While that's happening, only users enabled as testers can authorize it, and everyone else sees this message when trying to connect. If this happens to you, contact Metrix support to request early tester access, or connect with a Facebook account that already has access granted to the app.
Common errors
| Error | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "This app isn't available" / "app not active" | Metrix's app is still going through Meta's approval process and your user doesn't have test access yet. | Contact Metrix support to get enabled as a test user, or connect with an account that already manages the asset. |
| "OAuth failed for meta" | The authorization was interrupted or expired — the connection link is valid for 10 minutes. | Try connecting again from Integrations and complete the Facebook authorization right away — the link expires after 10 minutes. |
| "(#200) Permissions error" or 0 accounts after connecting | Your Facebook user doesn't have effective ads_read permission on any ad account. | Check in Business Manager that your user has access to the ad account, or ask the admin to grant it. |
| "Reconnect required" | The access token expired or was revoked from Facebook. | Tap the Reconnect button on the integration to authorize again. |
Connecting client accounts (agencies)
If you manage ad accounts for clients, the cleanest setup is for access to stay under the client's name, not your personal account.
- Recommended: the client shares their ad account with you via partner access from their Business Manager, and you authorize Meta Ads in Metrix with your own Facebook user.
- Alternative: the client connects the account directly with their own Facebook user.
